22 Mar Visits to Koperasi Penternak Burung Walit Malaysia Berhad
KULIM, 21 March 2023 – A 4-person IPSAS research delegation led by Prof. Dr. Haslinda Abdullah (Director of IPSAS) visited the headquarters of the Koperasi Penternak Burung Walit Malaysia Berhad. The purpose of this visit was to be held following the invitation of Dato’ Louis Tan CS (Executive Director) of the cooperative who was interested in having further discussions on several studies related to their products.
Koperasi Penternak Burung Walit Malaysia Berhad is one of a large-scale sample of cooperatives involved in the study of the Cooperative Wellbeing Index, the collaboration of IPSAS and the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM). Their joint data collection has previously triggered a number of potential research proposals to be worked out together.
The visit of the IPSAS delegation was warmly welcomed by the Chairman of the Co-operative, Datuk Ng Siew Lai and Executive Director Dato’ Louis Tan CS. The management of the cooperative is very confident about the ability of IPSAS to spearhead the proposed research collaboration. Koperasi Penternak Burung Walit Malaysia Berhad is a cooperative established since 2012 and is one of the large-scale cooperatives operating under SKM. Among the products produced by the cooperative are cosmetics and beauty based on swiftlet nests. Currently, they are actively producing swiftlet-based beverage products.
